The Success Story of the World Conference on Waste Management (WCWM 2019)

The world conference on waste management 2019, was held on 07th – 08th March 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka under the theme “Towards a Sustainable Future through Strategic Waste Management.” The conference was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Center for Sustainability, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. INSEE Eco cycle was the industry partner and Colombo Plan was the Strategic Partner of the Conference.

INAUGURATION CEREMONY AND SPEAKERS

The opening remarks of WCWS 2019 were made by the Conference Co-Chairs Assoc. prof. Dongbei YUE (Dean, School of Environment, Tsinghua University, China) and Dr. Randika Jayasinghe (Head of the Department, Department of Biosystems Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura together and  with Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Managing Director, The International Institute of Knowledge Management). Mr. S. M. Madawalagama (Director, Solid Waste Division, Ministry of Internal and Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government, Sri Lanka) attended to the conference as a guest speaker and delivered  a sppech in the inauguration ceremony.

Key speakers of WCWM 2019

The Keynote forum was one of the significant sessions of the Conference and it was enlightened by Prof. Margaret Bates (University of Northampton, England) and Dr. Dongbei YUE (Dean, School of Environment, Tsinghua University, China). Prof. Margaret Bates delivered the keynote speech on the topic “Circular Solutions – Waste and Resource Management for Sustainability” whereas Dr. Dongbei YUE delivered the keynote speech on the topic “Circular Solutions – Waste and Resource Management for Sustainability”.

WCWM 2022 comprised of Five (05) Technical Sessions and One Poster Session. The Technical Sessions were under the below themes:
